MISSIONS
Electoral Observation Missions
In order to help strengthen parliamentary democracy in the
Americas
, COPA has instituted a program of electoral observation missions. To manage the deployment of these missions, in 2005 COPA adopted the By-laws of COPA Electoral Observation Missions and, in 2006, the COPA Observer’s Guide. At the conclusion of these missions parliamentarians prepare a summary of their observations and record their conclusions in a mission report.
Good-Offices Missions
In order to help build a community of the Americas founded upon respect for human dignity and rights, peace, democracy, solidarity among peoples, social justice, and gender equity, COPA also organizes good-offices missions in order to foster conciliation and to facilitate the prevention and the peaceful resolution of crises within the countries on the continent.
